General Michel Yakovleff served for the most part in the Foreign Legion (where he commanded the 1st Foreign Cavalry Regiment) and the 3rd Dragoon Regiment, as well as in Saumur, where he held the position of Director, Training and Education. Apart from French military academy Saint-Cyr, he attended two schools in the United States, at Fort Leavenworth and Norfolk.
